As one of the many differences between NameSilo and other registrars, we make it a priority not to bombard you with emails unless we believe there are things you should know regarding only the very core issues related to purchasing or managing your domains with us. To that end, we wanted to let you know about a price change that will occur on August 1, 2016. This increase is the result of the registry for the associated TLD increasing their registrar wholesale prices and is absolutely *not* the result of an arbitrary price increase by NameSilo. Here are the details:
.org prices are increasing by $0.90 for new registrations, renewals and transfers. This will result in retail registration and renewal pricing of $10.79 (as low as $10.19 if enrolled in our free Discount Program). Of course, WHOIS privacy and all other add-ons remain entirely free.
Again, our price increase is based entirely on the fact that the .org registry is raising the wholesale price. This increase impacts all registrars and many have already announced new pricing as a result.
One thing we'd like to make you aware of is that our price increase is only $0.03 more than the increase announced by the registry. This fractional difference is to cover the additional transaction fees associated with needing to charge more. This is very different than the way nearly every other registrar operates. When registries increase their prices, most other registrars increase their prices by a factor much greater than the registry increase, and pass the additional cost on to you.
If you have a .org domain name that you have been considering registering, renewing or transferring to your NameSilo account, we would highly encourage you to do so before the price increases go into effect on August 1, 2016.
We'd like to thank you for your continued patronage, and please always feel free to let us know with any questions, concerns or ideas for improvement.
Thanks,
The NameSilo Team
